Special Event

DISCOVER A LOST VICTORIAN MARVEL – HIDDEN IN AN EDINBURGH ATTIC!

Join us for an exclusive screening on Friday 18th July, as the filmmakers present their work for the first time outside Scotland — right here at the Anson Engine Museum.

During renovations above The Lost Close in Edinburgh, something extraordinary was found…

An incredibly rare 1878 Crossley four-stroke engine, once used to regulate the temperature of the old Edinburgh Police Chambers, lay hidden for decades — and is now believed to be the second oldest surviving engine of its kind in the world!

This beautiful feat of Victorian engineering, built by the pioneering Crossley Brothers of Manchester, was carefully researched and relocated by our dedicated team — and now it’s the star of a brand-new 30-minute documentary.

Free for “Friends” at 10:00 (booking required).
£2 donation for general visitors at other showings at 11.15am / 13.30pm and 14.45pm

Each screening will be followed by a 25-minute Q&A with those involved in the discovery and film — your chance to delve deeper into this fascinating story!
